Donations in kind are welcome as well.
Emily and Paulus plan to apply for grants and to look for ways to partner with other non-profits and community-oriented organizations. They believe strongly that communities are built around shared activities, meals, music and so forth -- but where, and how, and can people afford it? If the Motts Corners model succeeds in Brooktondale, others might be willing to dedicate a part of their home to something similar.Â
It shouldn't be necessary to drive 100 miles and spend $100 to watch a sporting event with strangers, when you feel like your life needs some excitement -- you could drive less than 5 miles and spend less than $5 and participate in an enriching activity with people who might be strangers when you arrive, but who won't be strangers by the time you leave.
